I haven't been on the Realm in a few years. I do remember the names on here, though. Think we hunted together and traded together a few times. It's been so long. I've spent the last bunch of years making hacks for The Sims2. But I miss the Realm. I don't think it ever really gets out of you. Has much changed in the last few years? I've been thinking of coming back. I miss it.

We have real dragons now lol... A bunch of new holiday items/pumpkins (which will be on the site soon I promise).

All in all the layout has remained the same for a while, same gameplay really, just no more smithing heh

Thanks \:D Still kind of waffling if I'll come back. Do high level wizzies still blow up stuff chanting? And how is the treasure table percentage these days? When I left, it was kind of slim.

You can get over 189sdm now at higher levels (with the dragon pit mage armor), so the chances of poping decreases there, but it's basically the same as its been... they claim they haven't adjusted it (down) but chanting seems to suck more over the last 6+ months.

The treasure table is about the same, again they say they haven't adjusted much (although they did claim to double the droprate of rare spellbooks).

They (by they i'm referancing NG, figured I'd say before someone asks whom) had a compensation event for all of the month of october where rare spellbooks dropped like hotcakes, also 10k and 100k experiance baubles dropped as well (thats 1 level and 10 levels), I believe some of the baubles can still be found at tulors.

Thanks. Those were major reasons I left. It was getting expensive to be a wiz. I'd do the fights and find rotten treasure that didn't cover my mana costs. And then I'd be blowing up the few rare items I found. I think I need to really decide on what I would be coming back to and what my gaming goals would be. It doesn't sound like they changed much since I've been gone. If I came back, I might do better staying at a lower level and just fighting in the lower level caves for fun. Lower goals, lower expectations \:D

Sused for what?

The most I got to was somewhere around 750 or 800, I can't remember. Then I left. I was just getting more and more upset about the bad treasure and the mana costs and blowing my good stuff up. I felt like Wizzies were being punished. And I didn't like playing a human or a Giant. Humans were kind of tolerable, but Wizzies were my fav.

I allow my brother to seldomly use some of my accounts as I take spuratic breaks here and there; during one of these breaks I came back to one of my accounts sused... Upon contacting the CS department they stated that I had been drawn and quartered for a ToS violation of the "automation" clause for "automating" the droprate in an area (aka picking up items).

Well, you know what they say, never let anyone use your account or credit cards. I let a relative use my cards when I was sick. Guess who got stuck with the bills? And guess who now has to do a bankruptcy? Life sux. Funny thing is, it frees up my money so I could rejoin the Realm if I choose.

I never cheated on Realm. I was always curious about it, but never did it. I think in a way, it would ruin my treasure hunting fun. Not that the drop rate was good. I really found it very unfair. It was like two percent. Fifteen or Twenty percent might have been fair, but not two percent. Do they still have the hacker's graveyard?

Alternately, I am the Queen of The Sims2 community cheats. I helped to create the SimPe editing program for it and refuse to play it without cheats and mods LOL \:D

Yeh I know how that goes, I let my brother use my visa one year to buy his daughter some presants; authorized usage when they called me and the whole schmeal...

I get the bill, he spent over 2 grand, bought everyone presents, on me... And heres the kicker... he didn't even buy me anything lol...

I don't believe the hackers graveyard exists anymore; I believe CM removed it as it encouraged some to be bad...

Yeh, the sims was alway smore fun to play when you cheat lol...

Only development I do is heavy php webdevelopment hehe

I enjoy getting a couple OoHold's then going to leinster/kurz road and bashing everything till 75, then aegiscians till 200; or medusas till 200 (from 75)

That's what I miss about it, though. I miss the simplicity. I like the turn based click fighting. I remember being able to do the caves and barely even looking at the screen or what I was clicking on because I knew it so well \:D

Those still about? \:D I think I was last on about three years ago. There are some new weapons and armour, but not alot since then. I think I left right before the dragons were implemented. I seem to remember hearing about them before I left, and right before the coppers came into play as well.

They lowered the droprate when they where going to nuke them from the game (the grand recode of 3.5)...

In case you haven't heard, 3.5 is the recode of 3.2, they took out the ability buy most smithing materials, which means that its' strictly "you have to find" now on them.

All toon names will be moved to the new server, however no toons will; which simply means they found a way to wipe all of out items without actually having to wipe all of our items lol...

They say all of our toons on the current server will stay, and the current server wills tay until it can no longer support itself.

3.5 is supposed to fix most of the bugs with 3.2 and a bunch of other stuff (the realm forums would be best to read what Sernon has posted about it).

It's supposed to be out "first quarter 2007" for beta testing, but considering they dont' even have a private beta server in house for staff, I woudln't hold my breath.

Hmmm, my luck I'll come back and there will be a major thing where we lose everything but our names \:\( As it is, it will be hard for me to start with nothing again. In some ways, it's fun to build back up, but in others, you get spoiled with your chants and stuff. The first time I was in Realm, I had alot of the things considered rare now, snowman, black roses, Burnt Xmas Tree, Scales. I had it all. Left, account got purged. Second time I came back, same thing all over again, lots of rare stuff all gone now. If I come back this time, I'd like to hold on to whatever I get.

I think it's amazing the game is still sailing along after all this time. When I first came in, it was 97, I think Realm was a year old then. I hope they keep it going for years to come. I don't care that the graphics are kind of old or anything. It has its charm \:D

The town shops got a bit rearranged, haven't they?

'eh supposidly we get to keep 3.2 until it can no longer support itself; but considering most people have spent years acquiring their goods, i doubt most will migrate anywhere.

And yeh, I had left my account wiht a friend to use until i came back; I came back to my account stripped, passwords changed, and a fight with billing about getting control of my toons back that lasted about a month... best of all, he doesn't even play anymore.

lol they changed some graphics, people flipped; most feel that we'd rather have NEW monsters with NEW artwork verus changing our classic monsters...

I still vote for the old hats we had, the old myth hats where so much cooler than the new ones :(...

And yes, a town rebuild, gargoyles ruled lol

That was one of my complaints. We didn't have enough new monsters.

It just sounds like they wasted time and effort with the artwork and moving the town shops about.

Am I remembering correctly? Scimitar for the black storyline baldie and Light in the Forest for the White one?

I'm going to try to come back in the next week or so. I think some cave runs would do me good \:D I'm kind of free till March when the new Sims2 EP comes out. Then I'll have to update all my files again for it.

I can't imagine anyone giving up years worth of stuff to move to a new server. I do regret giving up mine. When I came back last time, I really missed my stuff. I was lucky enough at that time to have a friend who gave me some good things again. But then he left and I left shortly after. It seems alot of people left about the time I did. But some of us do wander back \:D

Oh and get this, there is now a shop of just about any type in every town now lol... Though they have magic spells of one type in every down (see the town list on the site).

Uhh, the one in asg has black, the one in wen has white, then the other has grey lol... I don't really follow storyline or wear "god" baldies... i prefer my fin baldy lol

I've been here time and time again, somehow i always leave with nothing... even when I don't give anything away lol... It's rough getting started again. My friend Justin left just as I came back, and he let me snag just about anything i could from his house, so at least i got started with a full set of armor and a god set lol

So you have to go to each town for a different type of spell?

They never did implement Blobs, did they? I seem to remember something about them long ago.

I never really played for story, but I liked running ToS and I liked getting the symbol off Ezel in DH \:D I played either good or evil depending on what I was fighting.

It can be a pain to start with nothing, but if you do a giant wiz and use it for some quick gold, then you can level up your real wiz fairly well. Sometimes a human all str adventurer will do as well for some cave runs. It really depends on what you buy. Scroll of immo, potion of shift, potion of invis and being able to summon pixies or more will get a newbie leveled up pretty quick. If you invest in alittle bit of Myst, too, so you can hold on your own, low level monsters are more vulnerable to it. I remember last time I spent most of my time invis'd, shifted, and invul'd with a scroll of immo. Worked great. I just summoned alot. And I remember getting Myst spells kind of early really helped. Will be interesting to see if that strategy still works \:D I think the biggest annoyance is waiting till you get your teleport and ID spells. It's so annoying when you can't ID what you find.

Well, the god taverns have all spells in them, but spells are broken up by type, and no tall towns have all types... I have a list on the main site of where you can go for spells.

Yes, we have blobs, and muck, and goo... lol, all really the same thing; they're in the swamp with the dragons...

I have tons of strategies, my main one i have above though; I like gettin GM Nec first if i'm goin the spell route, those summons are much more useful than FQ's imo hehe

Doubt I'll see a swamp for a long time LOL \:D I think I'll be chicken and do low level caves for awhile till I get back into it again. Three years is a long time to be gone.

Have they changed what monsters drop what? Like I used to get ammies off ogres, GoW and Sandstorm books off Elementals, and summon dopple off medusas. Has that sort of stuff changed?

I haven't had a drink in a long time. I like rum \:D They should really implement something like that for Realm, like make it so we can get our toons drunk in the taverns. It would be really funny to have them fight drunk \:D

I don't recall the game offhand, but if you drank too much your toon would just stumble around, adn everything was psychodelic; it was helarious...

On another ntoe, we have ale, but we're not allowed to talk about drinking in game...
